Excerpt from GREEN FIRE by Joy Smith
A single tear glistened on Marisol’s cheek.
Victor didn’t know what to say or do. Emotion welled inside him. He felt for her, and he felt for himself.
“Would you like another glass of wine?”
Marisol brushed the wetness from her cheeks and smiled. “Are you trying to get me drunk so you can have your way with me, Victor?”
“I thought about it, but now…” He returned her smile. “I wish…”
“Shush.” She held a finger to his lips.
The nearness of her finger made him part his lips. Before he realized what he was doing, he had grabbed her hand. The tip of his tongue made tiny circles on the inside of her palm. He pursed his lips and began kissing the tender spot inside her wrist, which had gone limp and resilient. His breath came in short pants and her female pheromones called to him.
“You guys done with that stew? This is no boudoir, you know.” Juanita stood over them, hands on hips.
Marisol withdrew her hand from his.
Crap. What had gotten into him? “Just a check, please.”
He exchanged glances with Marisol, who suppressed a giggle.
