Hi friends and readers,
Welcome to my new website and blog. My first couple of posts will answer readers’ questions on where I see the Jake Carrington series going. After that, look for guest posts from authors and publishers, and feel good stories about police officers who perform their duty to protect and serve in honorable ways. We always hear about the few rotten ones. It’s time we hear about the hard working men and women who follow the rules as they put their lives on the line each day for us.
My event calendar page will let you know in advance where I’ll be appearing. If you don’t see your area listed and would like to see if I’m available to visit a location near you or to connect with your book club by Skype please send me a note.
I value your opinions, so drop me note in the comment section below and let me know what you think of the new website.
I know I’ve written about my journey to publication before but I thought with the new website I’d revisit it. When I finished my second book in the Jake Carrington series I received a contract for the first two books. I was thrilled, and thought, this is it baby. I’m on my way. At the time I didn’t understand the difference between a small press or a traditional publisher. If I had done my research I would’ve found out that the small press was just establishing itself as I was.
I have no regrets. I met a lot of talented authors and made many friends who were also publishing there. And I respect the owner for what she’s accomplished with her company over the years.
After publishing with a small press, I chose to go the self-pub route, with some success. Again, I learned a lot about the publishing industry. Having to be author, publisher, and marketer was exhausting but worth it. Still I wanted more…
More interaction with readers, more presence on social media, and a higher quality of editing for my books and more direction for my series—I found that with my current publisher Kensington.
Jake and I have a lot invested in each other, and I hope our relationship continues to grow in more books about his life and cases. Our readers have been wonderful with their reviews and friendship as we continue to chase suspects.
And it’s not just Jake I write about. I have many great characters in the works that I hope I’ll be introducing to you soon.
